Perhaps my answer is already too late, and you have had the pleasure of visiting the gardens already. For what it's worth, I think it's possible to visit both in one day, but you'll have to be efficient. They are about 120km apart, and the Oudolf garden is not very large (but it has limited opening hours, so be sure to check ahead). I would certainly highly recommend both - I hope you can fit them in!The Garden Wandererhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16598845282855975458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-520704682053936566.post-33287498637198443992013-08-23T11:31:21.457+02:002013-08-23T11:31:21.457+02:00The Mien Ryys tuinen nowadays have a very good web...The Mien Ryys tuinen nowadays have a very good website, including a virtual tour: http://www.tuinenmienruys.nl/nl/photoalbums/tour.
Greetings from a dutch gardener
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-520704682053936566.post-44620786172052242422013-08-21T18:23:34.033+02:002013-08-21T18:23:34.033+02:00Hi Garden Wanderer – I see it's been several y...Hi Garden Wanderer – I see it's been several years since you posted this, but perhaps you will see my comment anyway. We arrived too early for the afternoon visiting hours, but decided to wait until the house and gardens were open. Madame Mallet and her son observed this and invited us in during their lunch hour. The house was, and I imagine still is, wonderful and their gesture towards us still remembered. It was a pity that at that time the Lutyens Society had not approached them for some sort of association. And thanks for your point regarding the paving, I definitely agree with you. More interestingly, your comment made me realize that I never really noticed the paving in real life... if I had to describe it based on memory, I would have guessed large stone slabs! I was actually surprised when I looked back at the pictures and saw the manufactured stone. Normally I think I notice nice paving, but in this case, it seems that I just blocked it out. When you're there in the garden, the planting is so rich and powerful that the paving doesn't command nearly as much attention as in the pictures. Though I agree, I think the garden deserves something nicer - I would guess it was probably a budget issue. The Garden Wandererhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16598845282855975458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-520704682053936566.post-59710253812098041462013-03-27T14:39:35.594+01:002013-03-27T14:39:35.594+01:00I agree! Also appreciated reading that although Belgian gardens seems a bit too organised you still found some good things about them and saw how you could learn from them. My opinion is that they reflect our Belgian character, we like the order in a organised French tidy hedge garden in combination with a Englisch cottage garden border but mixed in our unique style as we are neither English nor French but I would say closely related to both. I can send you a picture of a garden that requires a garden wanderer to design it in a Belgian-Canadian style which is completely covered with snow on the 24th of March which is not very Belgian. As winter is refusing to leave us, this might mean that Belgium is missing its Canadian inhabitants and looking forward to a reply to this post....

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-520704682053936566.post-36727362124863229452013-03-12T01:15:56.472+01:002013-03-12T01:15:56.472+01:00I do not know much about plants but your before an...I do not know much about plants but your before and after pictures of the snowdrops and the flowering hellabore are beautiful and I am glad that they made it through the changing weather patterns
Thanks for sharingchristinehttp://www.comfortercompany.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-520704682053936566.post-6400291817903058942013-02-16T22:34:13.428+01:002013-02-16T22:34:13.428+01:00Magical and fairytale garden, beautiful !Magical and fairytale garden, beautiful !Miłkahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18133357012714103972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-520704682053936566.post-85120545262981671692013-01-30T11:51:52.871+01:002013-01-30T11:51:52.871+01:00I was very lucky to have been invited in October 2...I was very lucky to have been invited in October 2012 to see the Jardins de Plessis with Rosamee, the owner and the French tourist board.
